We are driven and challenged to achieve the collective ambitions of the region, through scrutiny and advocacy by an experienced board of Trustees, Patrons and Ambassadors who bring a diverse range of skills and expertise to the organisation.
Anne Boyd FRSA, FRSPH
Anne is the award-winning Chief Executive of Active Cheshire; the lead body for physical activity and sport in the Cheshire and Warrington sub-region. She is born and bred in Cheshire where she lives with her 3 grown-up children. She has 20+ years of experience spanning public, private and voluntary sectors having held leadership positions within Sport England, NWDA, Local Government and her own award-winning business, which secured her a seat on a Prime-Ministerial think tank. Anne is a passionate contributor to her home county, donating her time to the British Red Cross as Vice-President , to Cheshire and Warrington LEP as a member of the Oversight and Scrutiny Committee and to the West Cheshire Poverty Truth Commission as a Commissioner. She is also a member of the Cheshire & Merseyside STP Clinical Advisory Group seeking to transform health services. Anne is extremely well networked as an active member of the Global Leaders Alumni and of HEPA Europe. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and of the Royal Society of Public Health and is a member of the Institute of Directors. Anne is passionate about tackling inequality and has a particular interest in the improvement of mental health services. She is a supporter of women in business.
Strategic Partnership Manager Active Design
Steve is the Strategic Partnership Manager for Active Design. Steve joins the Active Cheshire team after 25 years working in the legal sector and brings a wealth of experience in terms of business development and relationship management. Active design aims to bring activity into everyday lives, whether that be in the workplace, at school or in the local community. Active design can cover a huge range of ideas from something as simple as signposting walking routes into the office to working with builder and property developers on new projects of any scale. Outside of work Steve is a keen cook and is passionate about Motor Sport. He combines this with his other hobby of Photography with regular visits to Oulton Park to watch Superbikes and Touring Cars. He is married to Alison, has a son, Morgan and a Springador called Rossi who Steve describes as “bonkers”
Strategic Partnership Manager Active Minds
Roberta is the Strategic Partnership Manager for Active Minds and joined Active Cheshire in May 2019. She was born in Italy but, having lived in Cheshire for over 20 years she is grateful for the opportunities offered by the UK. She has many years’ experience as a lecturer and team leader in Further Education and as a career and engagement coordinator in the NHS in Cheshire and the Wirral working collaboratively with many stakeholders in our subregion. Roberta is passionate about social mobility, promoting the growth mindset and education leading to a better quality of life. Roberta has a particular interest in mental health and how it affects everyone’s quality of life. Outside work, Roberta fundraises for and volunteers with a number of local charities and international sporting events. She is also a volunteer Career and Enterprise Adviser for the Career and Enterprise Company. In her free time, she also teaches Italian and likes experimenting home cooking with “whatever is in the fridge”.
Project Management and Delivery Officer
Hayley is a Project Management and Delivery Officer for Active Cheshire. Working within the Local Area Team, she is involved with tackling inactivity through the Active Kids and Active Workplaces schemes as well as through various other projects. Hayley has always lived in the Cheshire area and is keen to help tackle physical inactivity in the area through the main pillars of the Active Cheshire Blueprint. Hayley has a Sport Science background completing and undergraduate BSc and postgraduate MSc at Manchester Metropolitan University and is currently working towards completing her PhD with Staffordshire University working with adolescent netball players. As a keen netball player herself, Hayley has a real passion for the sport playing for Warrington Town’s regional Premiership team, she supports Liverpool Football Club and in her spare time enjoys going to the local gym. Hayley is very family orientated and in her remaining spare time is a hobby baker, making celebration cakes for friends and family.
Senior Physical Activity Advisor (Cheshire East)
Nont is the Senior Physical Activity Advisor for Cheshire East at Active Cheshire. He brings a wealth of experience in market, consumer and social research which places him to approach the issue of inactivity through understanding of human behaviours, societal and cultural trends. Nont led on several high profile research which led to publication and showcasing at national and international platforms. Nont brings 5+ years of experience of working within the industry. As well as his knowledge and experience, Nont brings with him an abundance of energy, drive and enthusiasm. Born and raised in Thailand, Nont moved to the U.K. when he was 15 to join Liverpool F.C. Academy. Nont’s time at Liverpool was cut short due to a bad injury but he retained his passion and interest in physical activity and sport. Nont joined Active Cheshire as a volunteer in May 2013 and went on to secure his full-time position in September in 2013. He is passionate about creating opportunities for the residents of Cheshire and Warrington to lead healthy and active lifes. Nont’s world revolves around his family and friends, passion and interest in football and food! He is the designated chef for the office and can cook up a mean Thai Green Curry - as has done on several occasions!
Senior Physical Activity Advisor
Scott is our Physical Activity and Partnership Lead in the Warrington Region and is very busy working within 24 Primary Schools as part of our exciting New Balance Active Kids Partnership, he also works with a number of large businesses as part of our Active Workplace pillar. Scott has strong links with key partners such as the Warrington Wolves Foundation, Youth Club and Disability Partnership as well as supporting many other local physical activity providers and Warrington Borough Council and he attends a number of Networking Groups and Steering Groups championing his work within Warrington. Scott has over 15 years experience of professional football coaching having gained his UEFA B Licence as well as other multi sports coaching, disability sports, employment training and volunteer development and with his Certificate in Education has many experiences of teaching / tutoring and personal development. Scott is a Fanatical Everton supporter and worked for Everton’s Community Programmes for over 10 years on many exciting projects and he also represented the Premier League on a number of International coach development projects. Scott has 2 beautiful daughters that certainly keep him on his toes – He is super proud of his girls and is enjoying seeing them develop into the amazing young ladies that they are. Health & Social Care Activator
Roger is the Health and Social Care Activator at Active Cheshire and joined the team in June 2019. He is responsible for supporting Health and Social Care professionals to equip and enable them to promote physical activity to improve health and wellbeing. Rogers role involves building relationships and seeking opportunities to work in partnership with key stakeholders on projects across Cheshire and Warrington. He champions how small steps can lead to incorporating physical activity into everyday life and the real benefits this can bring. Roger is a regular Parkrunner in Cheshire and advocate of its inclusivity and the way it brings the local community together. Roger loves to travel with his fiancee Beth and they are never far away from planning their next adventure. He also enjoys walking, going to the gym, golf and skiing.
Apprentice in Active Communities
Jonathan is on a 16 month apprenticeship with Active Cheshire which will involve working in all departments within Active Cheshire. He was born in Carlisle but has lived in Cheshire since the age of three. Jonathan wants to pursue a career in the charity sector after volunteering for different charities in Cheshire and sees the experience he will gain from his apprenticeship, as a big step towards his goal. Straight after college Jonathan worked as a client support advisor within a busy admin team, for a big online retailer. In his spare time he volunteers as an assistant leader at a local cub pack, assisting with weekly meetings and camps. Jonathan plays bass guitar for a local band, playing gigs around Cheshire, Stoke and Manchester and until recently was a member of a local drama club. Jonathan is also a big supporter of Manchester United - having had a season ticket for 12 years. He is a keen sports person, which has included horse riding, sailing, gymnastics and he regularly plays football.
Strategic Lead Marketing & Events
Rebecca is the Strategic Lead for Marketing and Events at Active Cheshire. It is her responsibility to design, deliver and evaluate the organisational marketing strategy along with organising all company events. Rebecca is keen to help Active Cheshire embed physical activity into everyday life through the use of original and creative marketing campaigns. For the last 5 years of her career Rebecca has worked in the private sector and has experience around the organisation and execution of many successful corporate events. Rebecca’s true passion in life is her love of dogs and has been involved in dog showing since an early age. She currently owns two American Bully’s (Mugzy & Nova) and shows them at ABKC shows across the UK and is hoping to venture out to European shows in the next year.
Marketing Coordinator - Digital & Design
Eleanor is the Marketing Coordinator - Digital & Design for Active Cheshire. Eleanor is in charge of the social media accounts and collateral representing Active Cheshire. Eleanor also assists Rebecca in events coordination for Active Cheshire and driving forward the brand identity. Eleanor is very keen to delight customers, ensuring that every experience is an exceptional one. Before Eleanor joined Active Cheshire, she gained 4+ years of experience in the private sector, having worked in a fast-paced Customer Service environment as well as her experience in Wellbeing/Sports Therapy. Eleanor is no fan of sports, but enjoys physical activity going to the gym at least 3 times a week. She loves to travel outside of the UK, from trying new foods and gaining different experiences, learning different cultures is a huge interest. Her favourite place in the world was Venice in Italy, known as “the floating city” it has no roads - just canals. Eleanor loves to listen to music, and will be going to her first festival in Leeds this year.
Business Performance Officer
Active Archie is Active Cheshire’s mascot and Strategic lead for Fun. Starting off working in finance, Archie quickly realised this was not his calling and decided to become the company mascot. He supports the whole team with projects and events, bringing energy and fun wherever he goes. He is particularly popular with the Active Kids schools he visits to deliver the Active Plans. He proudly boasts the self-proclaimed title of Best Mascot in the World. Archie is also a keen sports star, with long distance running being a regular family activity. His favourite film is the Lion King, after it inspired him as a child to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. He now uses this same inspiration to encourage the residents of Cheshire and Warrington to get more Active. In his free time you can usually find Archie in Winsford Town Park playing with the PlayBox toys or in the stylists having a mane cut and blow.
