Have no fear, Active Cheshire is here… and they have launched their Everyday Superhero Awards, meaning applications are now being accepted.
With great power comes great responsibility, and these awards are celebrating everyday superheroes in Cheshire and Warrington who have inspired others to move more, no matter how big or small. Active Cheshire wants to celebrate the unsung heroes in Cheshire and Warrington, sharing the good stories out there in our communities.
The awards will take place on the evening of Wednesday 25th September 2019 at Chester Racecourse, with the winners being announced on the evening.
There are 7 categories that people or organisations can enter, these include Active Kids, Active Workplace, Active Minds, Active Neighbourhood, Health and Social Care Activator, Community Sport and David Newton Award.
Anne Boyd, CEO of Active Cheshire commented, “The awards will be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the everyday superheroes disguised as the local residents, businesses and organisations in Cheshire and Warrington. We know there are great stories of the work and achievements accomplished by our community, and this is the perfect platform to let these stories come to light.”
In October 2017, Cheshire and Warrington’s Physical Activity Task Force, facilitated by local wellbeing organisation Active Cheshire, were thrilled to release the Blueprint to Tackle Physical Inactivity – a local strategy co-created by cross-sector partners to promote a different way of working and improve the health and wellbeing of Cheshire and Warrington residents.
The Awards support the Blueprints ambition to embed physical activity into all aspects of everyday life by 2040. Active Cheshire has so far seen 100+ businesses, primary schools and early young providers taking a pledge to embed physical activity into their kids and workplace environments through a free active plan.
