Everyday Superhero Awards 2019

What is that in the sky? Is it a bird, is it a plane… NO!

It’s an everyday superhero! We are looking for everyday superheroes in Cheshire and Warrington who have inspired people to move more, no matter how big or small.

Active Cheshire wants to celebrate the unsung heroes in Cheshire and Warrington, sharing the good stories out there in our communities.

Enter the awards now and leave a winner after attending the fabulous awards ceremony at Chester Racecourse on the
evening of Wednesday 25th September.

 

Awards Categories

 

This award celebrates those everyday superheroes who have helped children aged 0-11 get more active and have encouraged healthy habits that have built physical activity into everyday life. Examples of these everyday superheroes could be but are not limited to; a grandparent who helps their grandchildren play out more, a new mum who encourages other new mums to get active, a child who has supported their friends to get more active or an organisation who has delivered a project or initiative that has helped kids get more active. The individual or organisation has to have been operational/ had an impact in the past 12 months.

As a sportwear company with more than 100 years of history behind it, New Balance has a vision to help improve the health and wellbeing of children in the communities where it operates. Through volunteerism, grants, sponsorships, and donations, New Balance aims to help the next generation live active healthy lives. With a UK headquarters in Warrington, Cheshire, They are delighted to support this local award and the work Active Cheshire are doing in getting more kids active in the Cheshire region.

This award celebrates those everyday superheroes who have helped those in the workplace get more active and have encouraged healthy habits that have built physical activity into everyday life. Examples of these everyday superheroes could be but are not limited to; a colleague at work who encourages walking meetings, an employer who allows their staff the time to get active during the day, or someone who actively travels (i.e. cycling/ running) into work every day. The individual or organisation has to have been operational/ had an impact in the past 12 months.

West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce is the leading organisation representing the business community across the whole of West Cheshire and North Wales. As an independent, not for profit organisation, their objectives remain clear: to promote and encourage business for their members and others regionally, nationally and internationally to improve commercial growth and prosperity.

This award celebrates those everyday superheroes who have helped others to get others more active and have encouraged healthy habits that have built physical activity into everyday life, whilst making a special effort to focus on positive mental health. Examples of these everyday superheroes could be but are not limited to; an organisation or individual that can demonstrate mental health and wellbeing improvement through physical activity. The individual or organisation has to have been operational/ had an impact in the past 12 months.

This award celebrates those everyday superheroes involved with neighbourhood/ town planning, developer, builder or managing homes and communities and have encouraged healthy habits that have built physical activity into everyday life. Examples of these everyday superheroes could be but are not limited to; an individual or organisation who is a social landlord that has created opportunities to be more active or a planning department that has created a space where people get more active/ play; or a town/ borough council creating places to play. The individual or organisation has to have been operational/ had an impact in the past 12 months.

This award celebrates those everyday superheroes who provide any level of care, support or encouragement, whether social, health or medically related resulting in that individual getting more active. Examples of these everyday superheroes could be but are not limited to; a support worker who attends a weekly fitness session with the person they support, or a medical professional who helps their patients move more as part of their rehabilitation; or a GP who actively promotes physical activity as a healthcare solution. The individual or organisation has to have been operational/ had an impact in the past 12 months.

This award celebrates those everyday superheroes who have helped others to get more active whilst playing sport, whilst making a special effort to include underrepresented groups/ individuals in the sport. Examples of these everyday superheroes could be but are not limited to; this can be a coach or volunteer who makes it easier or more fun for people to get involved, in community cohesion. The individual or organisation has to have been operational/ had an impact in the past 12 months.

PelliTec is a novel blister prevention pad developed on the Wirral. The pad, which sticks securely to the inside of footwear rather than the skin, has been shown to be effective in reducing the occurrence of blisters and helping them heal. Over a number of years, this prototype has been developed with Podiatrist input, to include state of the art materials which form the PelliTec product now available.

This award celebrates those everyday superheroes who have overcome adversity in their life and have encouraged healthy habits that have built physical activity into everyday life. Examples of these everyday superheroes could be but are not limited to; an individual has shown courage in overcoming adversity in their life relating to sport/ physical activity. The individual or organisation has to have been operational/ had an impact in the past 12 months.
