The Story

Ryan Dutton is a first year Sports student at South Cheshire College, Crewe.

Ryan has already volunteered for a number of Level 2 School Games opportunities with Crewe and Nantwich School Sport Partnership and has taken on a role of coordinating the involvement of other college students in these opportunities.  So far these opportunities have involved umpiring for primary school Boccia, Sportshall Athletics, Dodgeball and the Games for All festivals.  Ryan has enjoyed working with children with a variety of abilities; helping them to improve their skills and also motivate them to do their best.  This was particularly evident in the Games for All festivals, which are for children who do not normally represent their school in sport, as Ryan was able to demonstrate his coaching in helping children to improve, which was recognised by their school staff.

The Solution – Next Steps

Ryan is hoping to volunteer at this year’s Cheshire and Warrington Level 3 Summer School Games at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village on Wednesday 5th July 2017.

The Result

Ryan is undertaking football coaching at a local primary school called The Berkeley Academy.  This opportunity involves Ryan working alongside Crewe Alexandra Football in the Community coaches; receiving training and valuable experience.  Ryan has gained experience from working with children aged from 7 – 9 years of age through coaching each week at the school.  The coaching has involved sports such as football, multi skills, basketball and netball.
