Over the weekend, we hosted our first Team Games event - the first health & wellbeing/family fun day in the sub-region. Held at Chester Racecourse, the event was about engaging with the public and showing them that exercise doesn't have to be super-organised or extreme, it can be fun!
Thousands of people were in attendance, including 800+ children from local schools who came to take part in the Bubble Run. Around 600 parents/guardians were there to watch the kids and a conservative estimate said at least 500 spectators came down to see all the various activities. There was also around 1000 participants from local businesses, contributing to a minimum total of around 3,000+ people on the day.
Bubble running, zip-lining, free-falling onto stunt bags, scrambling through huge inflatables against rival teams was all part of the action on the day. Elsewhere, we had Spacehopper Races, Pillow Wars, Human Fussball and much more. There were queues to get on the activities all day, but everyone looked like they were having a great time and everyone was getting active in some way!
The proceeds of the Charity Fundraiser went to the youth charity - The Princes Trust. Many dignitaries were in attendance - we even had two local MP's tackling the assault course in the Challenge Zone and CEO's running the Egg & Spoon race! The High Sheriff of Cheshire, Kathy Cowell OBE DL, presented the winners with the wonderful Team Games trophy at the end of the day too, marking a brilliant first event.
