Chester Community Watersport Hub - views and opinions wanted!
A project is underway to investigate the creation of a water sports hub for the community on The River Dee in Chester. The project group includes Cheshire West and Chester Council, Chester Renaissance, British Rowing and British Canoeing. Active Cheshire, the lead organisation for physical activity and sport in Cheshire have been commissioned to impartially gather and understand the requirements of the local community. They want to hear local opinions from a wide range of people including residents, schools, businesses and community groups.
The proposed water sports facility aims to widen opportunities for the local community to access and enjoy the river. The consultation gives everyone an opportunity to talk about how they currently use the river and determine the need for a facility. It will also allow people to shape the requirements for the project and for the activities that could eventually take place at a hub, giving them a place to discuss views and issues.
For further information about the proposed Watersport Hub, visit the website www.chestercommunitywatersportshub.wordpress.com/. For further information on the consultation, or to feedback in an alternative way, please contact Olivia Lowe at Active Cheshire (Olivia.Lowe@activecheshire.org).
Olivia Lowe, Great Outdoors Lead at Active Cheshire said: “We are delighted to be leading this consultation. This is an objective survey to establish the need and demand for a water sports hub on the River Dee. As a great opportunity for residents, sports clubs, community groups and businesses to have their say and shape any plans, we hope as many people as possible will get involved.”
