Local girl becomes two times World Champion at the ITF Taekwondo championship

Local girl, Emily Oakes, has just won her second ITF Taekwondo championship, scooping a second World Title for Team GB and also three 2nd place finishes. Emily trains at Uxbridge University and in Bristol with Kerry Burridge - Head of Competitions for ITF UK. BTC Fitness - based in Winsford have also supported Emily with a fitness programme as well as training and advice.

As well as those impressive feats, she also won individual titles for Welterweight Sparring and Second Degree Patterns. This is the result of over 100 hours each month of dedicated training and thousands of miles driving in the year to get to the different training sessions.

The competition spans six days and sees 1400 competitors from 46 countries taking part. Emily is now ranked as all-time number one points scorer; World number one, World Champion, European Champion and youngest entry into the Hall of Fame from the ITF governing body.
