Further cash injection to get residents of Cheshire & Warrington more active

Do you have an innovative idea that could support local people to get more active?  Are you a charity, business, community or faith group that would like to get your membership more physically active?  ...then Active Cheshire wants to hear from you.

The 2016 ‘Active Anywhere’ investment launches today!

A lack of physical activity has been proven to have a negative impact on the confidence, mental health and physical wellbeing of individuals, families and communities, so it is our aim to address this issue by investing in projects, programmes and interventions that support local people to become more active. By getting more people active we will improve and extend the lives of our local citizens

In 2015, we invested over £500,000 in the residents of Cheshire and Warrington and now a further £200,000 is available to support local people to improve their physical activity habits.

If you’re a group of people that come together on a regular basis and feel you would benefit from getting more active, then apply to Active Cheshire and let’s see what we can do to help.  Active Anywhere investment funds the imaginative, the quirky, the non-traditional routes to a healthier lifestyle through physical activity.  You might be a group of young mums, a luncheon club, a parish council, a youth club or an extra care facility with a new idea, and need additional funds to realise your ambition - if so, we’d welcome your application.

At Active Cheshire we pride ourselves on our knowledge and insight of the local population and are seeking applications for projects that tackle gender, social and economic inequalities and barriers preventing people from becoming more active, particularly within deprived communities.

Anne Boyd, Chief Executive of Active Cheshire said “we invested in over 100 projects in 2015 that supported local people from aged 3 to 93 to get active.  The quality and breadth of applications we received for the last investment round was truly impressive, so I’m hoping that this year we will see new and innovative projects that make a difference to people’s lives and deliver the greatest sustainable impact for the residents of Cheshire & Warrington”.

Application forms can be downloaded from the Active Cheshire website. Submission deadline for applications is 5.00pm, Thursday 31st March 2016.
