Since 1989, Sport Cheshire has been a charity with a simple vision. We want more people in Cheshire and Warrington to be more active, more often.
A recent survey revealed that over 59% of people who live in our region exercise for less than 30 minutes each month. Our aim is to reduce this figure significantly in order to the spread the health benefits and sheer enjoyment that physical activity and sport can bring.
How do we achieve this?
Sport Cheshire makes connections. As the lead body for sport and physical activity in the region, we perform a vital role in bringing together local people and national sports bodies. We use our unique local knowledge, influence and insight to ensure that national funding and resources reach the places where they will have the most impact on participation.
We work closely with major funders such as Sport England and the National Governing Bodies of Sport to ensure that their priorities are achieved in delivering sports and physical activity programmes.
We have an experienced team with a winning track record in sport development, coupled with a national network of trusted partners. The service we offer is bespoke and can be scaled up or down as required. With our unique insight into local needs and our influence with national funding sources, we can help clubs, schools, businesses, community organisations and leisure providers make best use of their facilities and develop their programmes and people.
Our patron is Sir Philip Craven, Chair of the International Paralympic Committee who recognises the importance of creating opportunities at a grass roots level.
Together we can make Cheshire the most active county in England.
